Robert Cloninger

Robert Cloninger (född 4 april 1944) är en amerikansk psykiater och genetiker som forskat på biologisk, psykologisk, social och andlig grund för både psykisk och psykisk sjukdom. [1] [2] [3] [4 ] [5] Han är professor i psykologi och genetik och chef vid Sansone Family Center for Well-Being vid Washington University i St. Louis. [6] [7] [8] [9] Cloninger är  medlem av den biologiska och biovetenskapliga sektorns evolutionära, neurovetenskapliga och statistiska genetikprogram [6] och är erkänd som expertkliniker vid behandling av allmän psykopatologi, substansberoende och personlighetsstörningar. [7] [10]

Cloninger har forskat på genetisk, neurobiologiska orsaker för utveckling av personlighets- och personlighetsstörningar. [11] [12] [13] [14] Han identifierade och beskrev ärftliga personlighetsdrag som förutsade sårbarhet mot alkoholism och andra psykiska störningar i prospektiva studier av adopterade uppväxta utan sina biologiska föräldrar. [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] Cloninger utförde även en kopplingsstudie av normala personlighetsdrag, [20] och har utvecklat två verktyg för att mäta personlighet: TIDQ (Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire) och Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI). År 2004 publicerade han Feeling Good: Vetenskapen om välbefinnande. [23] [24] [25] Cloninger är direktör vid Anthropedia Institute, forskningsenheten för Anthropedia Foundation. [26] I samarbete med Anthropedia hjälpte han till att utveckla DVD-serien Know Yourself. [27] [28] Cloninger har erhållit livstidsutmärkelser från många akademiska och medicinska föreningar, och är medlem i National Academy of Sciences för medicinska högskolan.
